On the morning of November 28, a group of Shin Shin volunteers arrived at the Linda Mar Beach to learn about and aid the wildlife along the highway. After hiking a short path along the beach during which everyone learned more about native species and wild plants, we arrived at a spot where everyone divided into different groups. During the event, volunteers were able to choose between different roles such as moving woodchips to suppress the growth of weeds, removing non-native species, or even planting new native plants! The event was really fun, especially since there were many volunteers and everyone was having a good time working together. The group leader told us a bit more about the Pacifica Beach Coalition and even offered Shin Shin its own section to care for along the highway! This event was really amazing and impactful to the surrounding beach ecosystems and I am excited to volunteer again in the future!
