The idea of a Learning Beyond Borders was first conceived in December 2016 while Justin was brainstorming with then youth president Ruxin. After much planning and contact with Shin Shin schools, our first online activity was held in March 2017, with Justin as the first volunteer, exchanging cultures with the sixth grade. Soon after, Alex Liu, Emily, Jane, and Yixin joined the team. By the end of 2017, over 500 students had already interacted with the volunteers, and the program included 5 youth volunteers exchanging 5 classes every week. Now in 2019, our projects have expanded into 17 weekly interactions in 12 schools at 6 provinces: Heilongjiang, Hunan, Inner Mongolia, Anhui, Hubei, and Sichuan. Over 1600 students have benefited from this program!
