Second Harvest strives to end hunger within Silicon Valley. However with a rise in inflation, the prices for food are inevitably increasing at drastic rates. As this ultimately leaves families and individuals with a shortage of food, Second Harvest has responded by serving 500,000 families. By distributing food, Second Harvest brings Silicon Valley one step closer to being free of hunger.
In order to aid in Second Harvest’s efforts, Shin Shin Youth Group helped organize boxes of produce, bags of canned foods and mandarin oranges, and frozen chicken. Our task was to distribute each of the following items to designated vehicles that drove through our station, and in the end, we fulfilled that task, in that we were able to distribute all of the items to each and every vehicle. All in all, this food distribution event was very rewarding in that we were able to contribute to the efforts of ending hunger within Silicon Valley.
